My English teacher made me a difference in my life

My childhood teacher, Mr. Soe Win made a difference in my life by improving my “English” and “Thinking about Life”. I was a student at his school after finishing high school. He opened his private “English” class in my hometown. My class was every weekend because I worked for the supermarket on weekdays. His teaching experience was about 25 years and his lecture was amazing. He taught the students in grammar, reading, and writing. He encouraged every student to love English and told me “Never be afraid of the English language”. Therefore, I can read the articles in Time Magazine and Reader Digest. On the other hand, he shared his working experiences at the government office and said “To be a good citizen, to be intelligent and to be honest”. I obeyed my teacher saying forever and now I am still studying English. I love “English” too. He is a great teacher to me and has loved “English” throughout his life. He passed away in 2023 and I am still feeling very sorry about that. I miss my teacher and do wish he might be in a peaceful place.

What are you good at? What is something you are proud of?

I am good at thinking positively and I always start smiling at people. When I wake up from bed, I always wish that every person may be peaceful, healthy, and wealthy. Then I deeply breathe in and out with mindfulness. I think positively about everything I meet and always say "Thank you" for a tiny thing. Even though I met some problems or obstacles I still think positively. I take care of my actions in every detail and I overcome it.  I am a helpful person and share my time with my family, friends, and other people who need to get help. I live in a simple life and I am proud of my helping.

About my friend from my country that is moving to California next month

This is about my friend who is moving to California next month. They just had a visit visa from the US embassy in Burma (Myanmar). My friend has five family members including two kids. The eldest kid is in Grade 5 and the youngest is in Grade 1. They decided to set their life up in Los Angeles. I advised them how and what to do the important things. Firstly, they should bring their legal documents such as their kids' birth certificates, marriage certificates, and education documents. Secondly, they should learn about immigration, education, and health care information via the website before they leave. Finally, they ought to meet new people with diverse cultures. As for my side, I have to find an appropriate place to live for them and elementary schools for their kids. I said the weather and general information so they shouldn't get stressed out.

My neighborhood

I have lived in Rosemead City since I moved to the US in April. My environment is quiet and safe for my family. Most Asian people live here and we can see many Chinese supermarkets and restaurants. I have Chinese and Burmese neighbors. A huge Chinese family is on the left side of my house. I usually see two senior people in the house who are gardening every morning. Sometimes, I see middle-aged people. I think they always go to work. They have a small garden and four dogs which always bark at me.

There is a Burmese people's house which is on the right side. While I was picking up my daughter from her school we saw them. They spoke in the Burmese language and I greeted them "Mingalarbar". They are all women and we had a very nice chat. They don't have any dogs. I love my neighborhood because they live peacefully and quietly.

My favourite songs

Today I listened to the songs from Mrcesl3 blog and my favourite songs are "Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper and "Lighting Seeds" by Pure among all songs. I am writing to request to post the songs "The Power of Love" and "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion. I hope Mr. C will post these two songs soon.

The difference between schools in Burma (Myanmar) and California

Education is the most crucial part of building one country. Education gives us wisdom and knowledge. In Burma, there are primary, elementary, and high schools. Education is mandatory in Burma but it is not complimentary at all. The parents send their children to school with full support. They can’t send their kids to school if their income is low. The poverty rate is too high after the military coup. In addition, the child labor rate is also high around the country and they find basic needs like food, shelter, and so on. The government didn’t set the education budget enough. On the other hand, the Ministry of Education can’t provide especially Science, ICT, and arts. In California, education is free for all and every child can go to school. The government fully supports the people. The curriculum is up to date and there are more outside activities to study for students. The American education system is the top one in the world. In conclusion, there are many differences in the education system in Burma and California.
