Habit 1: Be Proactive

I read this word "Be Proactive" from my daughter's school. They studied and practiced this habit at school. What does this mean? Being proactive means more than taking initiative. It means we are responsible for our own lives. Our behavior is a function of our decisions, not our conditions. "Response-ability" is the ability to choose your response. Highly proactive people do not blame circumstances, conditions, or conditioning for their behavior. Their behavior is a product of their own conscious choice, based on values, rather than a product of those conditions, based on feeling.

People make choices in everyday life and I learned the following steps to be proactive.

1) Proactive (Water) Versus Reactive (Soda)

2) Pause, Think and Choose

3) Breathe Deeply

4) Circle of Influence (Control/ No control)
